Trip Route (“the app”) is a mileage-tracking app. This policy explains how it handles your data.
The app records and stores the following locally on your device only: your drives (GPS routes, distances, start/end times), the place names for each trip, trip categories (business/personal), and your settings. This information is never transmitted to the developer, and there is no online account or backend server that stores it.
The app uses your device’s location — including in the background, if you enable automatic drive detection — solely to record your trips. This location data is kept on your device.
To provide certain features, the app makes limited network requests that are processed in real time and not retained by the developer:
All network requests the app itself makes use encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
The free version of the app shows banner ads on the Reports and Insights screens and in the in-app report viewer. Those banners are supplied through Appodeal, an ad mediation service that requests ads from several ad networks (including Google AdMob, Unity Ads, AppLovin, Meta Audience Network, Liftoff/Vungle and BidMachine). To serve them, the Appodeal SDK and those networks’ SDKs collect and transmit information including your device’s advertising ID (AD_ID), coarse device and app information, and interaction with the ads themselves, which may be used to personalise ads and measure their performance. Appodeal’s handling of that data is described at appodeal.com/privacy-policy, which also links each partner network’s own policy.
The app may also show an occasional full-screen ad when you return to it, supplied directly by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, which collects the same kinds of information under Google’s policies at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Consent. Where the law requires it — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and US states with consumer privacy laws — the app asks for your choice before personalised ads are shown, using a consent form provided through Appodeal’s consent manager (built on Google’s User Messaging Platform). Your choice is stored on your device and applies to every ad in the app. You can review or change it at any time from Settings › Privacy › Privacy choices, which appears wherever such a choice applies.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, from your device’s Settings under Privacy › Ads.
Your drive data is never used for advertising: no route, location, distance, vehicle, or fuel figure recorded by the app is shared with Appodeal, any ad network or any advertiser. The ad SDKs have no access to it.
An optional paid subscription removes every ad from the app. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we never see or store your payment details. The app asks Google Play whether your account holds an active subscription and keeps only a yes/no flag on your device to decide whether to show ads. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time from the Google Play Store.
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used: which screens are opened, when the app is installed, opened or updated, and basic device information such as model, Android version, language and approximate country. This is collected with an app-instance identifier and, where available, your device’s advertising ID, and is processed by Google under its own policies, described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
It never includes your trips: no route, location, place name, distance, vehicle, or cost is ever sent to it. The app contains no other analytics and no other third-party tracking or marketing SDKs.
Aside from the advertising and analytics data described above, we do not share your data with anyone. If you choose to export a report (PDF or CSV), that file is handled entirely by you through your device’s share options.
Because your data is stored only on your device, you control it completely. You can delete individual drives within the app, or remove all app data by uninstalling the app.
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children.
